Small Businesses – Central Valley, CA – Featured: Maria Lorenzana of World Financial Group – Ripon, CA
Recently, I was honored to take Maria Lorenzana of World Financial Group’s headshot. As I got to know her and her story, I realized that I had to interview her for my blog to share with all of you. Yes, she’s just as warm and kind as she seems! Read on to learn more about her story and how she can help you.
1) Can you share about your business and who you serve?
I am an associate with World Financial Group. I have my health & life license through the state of California and Washington. My license is with 73 companies such as Transamerica, Nationwide, Prudential, Gerber, to name a few. I’m able to offer financial services to clients and shop for them. Depending on my client’s situation and goals, I’m able to put together options for them and help them decide what is best for them. I’m able to serve clients with an array of financial needs like annuities, life insurance, and long term savings accounts. I serve all people but an ideal client for me would be someone in their late teens who is just starting out working. I like to know young kids are starting to think about saving for their future.
2) What inspired you to start your business?
I actually started out as a client. I was a client 10 years ago when I set up a college fund for my first born. What inspired me to do that is that I’m first generation here and when I went to college I was not financially prepared. My father always said he didn’t like loans and so I worked my way through college. I didn’t always know how I was going to pay for my next semester or my books. I didn’t want this same experience for my own kids so when my first child was born, I was ready and went to a financial coach. I had known this particular financial coach all my life, and I knew she wouldn’t steer me wrong, so she got me started. Now 10 years later I’m here looking at that and wondering why more people don’t do this. For example, I know people who are dipping into their retirement to pay for their kids' college. There are better ways to do it. I wanted to bring about more awareness to my family and friends and bring this information to my community and the public.
3) What's the mission and vision of your business?
I would just like to create awareness and provide information and education about financial services that are not typical, that you may not be aware of. My main mission is to get more information out there to people. It’s easy and not as hard as it may seem. It may feel like a chore if you don’t know how to go about it. I would like people to know they can just call me. I want to be like my financial coach was to me.
4) What's a recent win for a client or the business?
I was able to reach out to a classmate of mine via Facebook to reconnect with her. I shared more about what I do, and I was able to help her with her retirement plan. She didn’t have anything in place even though she has a family and that to me was a big win. If I hadn’t come across her information, I wouldn’t have been able to share with her what her options were. After talking with her, I was able to create a doable option, and she went with it. That to me is my perfect scenario, a big win.
5) What's your biggest lesson learned?
That dreams are possible. I’m a stay-at-home mom with 4 children and my husband is a firefighter. I just wanted to help people. I feel like this is a dream come true for me to be able to help people with their finances and to make their lives better. For me, the biggest takeaway is that it’s possible. This kind of came about last year when we were all home due to the stay-at-home order. Not everything that came out of that was bad. I asked my financial coach to take me under her wing and she’d always provided great information that I loved. I love learning about finances and reading retirement books and everything about numbers is fun for me. I really wanted to pick her brain, and I’m glad I had the courage to ask her and so glad she gave me the opportunity.

"I already knew that I’d receive great value from scheduling a photo shoot with, Rachel Venema, but I was still very much impressed. Rachel put me at ease throughout the photo shoot, made sure that I looked great by fixing my hair and clothes throughout, and just overall cared for my appearance and comfort. When it came time to pick my photos, I loved them all!! I highly recommend Rachel Venema for your next photo shoot. She’s amazing!!!"
